informative. Maybe even better than the black & white newsletter mailed
every other month. Please feel free to contact the lodge with any

Fall has fallen...I think. Had lots of sun lately...but that ok.
The rains will return...at least it won’t be falling inside the lodge
for long. We’re in the process of scheduling the ballroom roof to
be done. Thanks so much to all the donations and hard work to
raise the funds to make this happen! The recent Golf
Tournament alone raised a little over $3000!...raising our roof
fund to approx $19,000. It’s going to cost around $27,000 to get
the roof on...more if there’s any rot or other issues. We’ve
received a grant from Moose International to cover the balance.
Thanks again, and way to go Mooses!
A few events coming up you won’t want to miss: November
2 is the Women of the Moose’ annual Purse Auction. Lots of
great stuff in this auction, and proceeds benefit local children’s
charities. Prime Rib Dinner that night too!
November 10 is our annual Veteran’s Dinner & Dance. We’re
serving Chicken Fried Steak. Veterans eat free, all others $10.
There’ll be live music and dancing...we’ve got a great band lined
up. Lots of raffles and silent auction items. November 24 is our
annual Holiday Bazaar. It’ll run from 9am - 3:00 pm. Check the
ad for more info.
Nov-Dec will be the last newsletter that will be mailed out
through the post office. Our snail mail list is now below 200,
which negates us using bulk mail, and it would cost far too much
to send out using regular postage. So, if you haven’t sent me
your email address, please do so asap.! You can email the lodge
at email@example.com, or drop your address off at the
bar. I’ll still be making the newsletter, attaching it to emails, and
posting it on this website, but beginning in January, it will only be
available in paper form here at the lodge.
Karaoke has been cancelled for right now. We just couldn’t
generate enough interest to keep it going. Thanks to Governor
Terry White & Susan West for giving it a try...as well as the few
who showed up weekly to support it. I hear there may be a
special contest night in the future, so watch for it!
All LOOM members, please check out the insert in this
newsletter concerning dues. We’ll have a special meeting
November 14 to discuss raising them. Right now, with what we
pay out to Moose Int’l, State Moose Association, and insurance,
it costs the lodge about $50 per year for each member, meaning
we get almost no revenue from dues. Next year, our annual per
capita payment to Moose International will raise $2 per member,
giving us about $3 per member income from dues. Dues haven’t
been a huge money maker for the lodge for some years, but I
believe the lodge should make something from them, and in our
current financial condition, every bit helps. Raising any costs to
our members is, and always has been, a last resort for the board
of officers, but our first priority is to keep the lodge open. In any
case, if you have an opinion, one way or another, that you want
to heard, please come to the meeting and express it.
Our rental calendar is filling fast. If you’re looking to get a
holiday party on the books...better hurry.
See you here…
